Salut ! I’m Holly.
Over the last two decades, Holly has inspired hundreds of students to learn with confidence. Recently, one parent commented, “I am mystified by how you always manage to bring out their best!”
Holly holds a Ph.D. in French Literature from Northwestern University, summa cum laude, as well as a Masters from the University of Georgia. She earned her B.A. from Illinois Wesleyan, in English and French.
Although her career focused initially on higher education (she taught at the University of Washington and Seattle University), Holly has found her passion in helping younger students (K-12) learn.
In 2016, Holly founded Uplift Writing and Communication, an award-winning tutoring center in Seattle. As the curriculum designer and director, she created all camps, classes, and individual tutoring programs for students ages 7-18.
Holly also created a one-of-a-kind mobile App for parents, Oystrr: K-12 School Checklist, to help parent's navigate their child's education journey (available on the App Store and Google Play).
Holly founded B-612 Learning to make the tools and methods she developed over years of tutoring and teaching more widely available. These products include: annotating stickers; decoy duck award stickers to support the process of learning; duck stuffies and keychains that encourage empathy; and workbooks to help students write and read more effectively.
Holly is currently filming a set of video lessons for her online course, "Write to Think!" and finishing the supplementary materials for the first book in the "Adventures of the Heart" reading series.
Holly is the mother of two daughters, Ally (17) and Catherine (15), and Star the Samoyed, her fluffy companion. Ally has an orange cat named Mango.
